The closing event for 4 was a big success on June 30th. With all the av motion, sounds, lights and physics, it was a wonder we didn’t crash the sim or cause permanent retina damage. All four musicians performed live and I showed a slide show and talked about the four phases of the exhibit while playing each musical track. I didn’t do a head count but there were close to 20-30 avatars floating and diving in the space, others dancing to the music. First up, Miulew, Bingo and Gumnosophistai Nurmi all AOM (Avatar Orchestra Metaverse) members played their new “Fragila” while flying helter-skelter wearing Bingo’s kinetic sculptures on their backs. Auxiliary DJed her smooth trance tunes with particles flying bringing a taste of SL dance culture to the scene. I chimed in with my animated cube sculptures that intersected the space. Last but not least, Aldo closed with a dramatic live guitar performance surprising listeners with a gentle start that built into earth shaking climaxes. My av-size light bubbles were handed out to the listeners and the space was transformed to a sea of organic colored orbs which people floated randomly inside. The closing was a perfect finale for a month of creative collaboration and experimentation. If anything, it has proven the potential for creating immersive multimedia experiences in the virtual world that we’re only starting to touch on.

I’d like to take the chance to thank all of you who visited the show each week, making it all worth while.
